HEB worked with
the town and a citizen committee to prepare preliminary design plans
and cost estimates that supported the community in its application
for TEA-21 funding. The first phase of the pathway, of which a
substantial part is an off-road travel way, begins the development
of a six-mile long path. It is envisioned as a key linkage between
various local and regional amenities, offering safe bicycle and
pedestrian access through the Moultonborough Neck. There was
significant community involvement with interest from many landowners
that allow off-road access to their properties. Mountain views and
Lake Winnepesaukee access have been considered as design elements
for the path as it progresses over the hilly terrain of the Neck.
Upon successful completion of Phase 1, HEB has been engaged
to design Phase II of the multi-phased project. Phase II includes
the construction of approximately 2.5 miles of pathway along the
northernmost section of Moultonborough Neck Road. Most of this
section of pathway will be contained within the NHDOT right-of-way
along Moultonborough Neck Road. Similar to Phase I, HEB will provide
design and permitting services along with preparation of
construction documents, bidding assistance and construction
administration. Construction of Phase II is anticipated to begin in
the fall of 2006, with completion in 2007. |
