HEB was
hired by the National Park Service, in its first-ever use of qualifications-based
selection, to perform Appalachian Trail exterior corridor boundary surveys. Our extensive
experience with government contracting and large, complicated projects in difficult
terrain convinced the NPS staff that HEB was the most qualified firm for the 3-year NH
contract. The first phase of this project presented many logistical and managerial
challenges. These included: establishment of a campground field office; supervision and
supply from our home office; coordination with a consultant survey crew; and dealing with
both cooperative and adversarial abutters over many vague and problematical boundaries.
After completion of the first contract, HEB was awarded a five-year contract to complete
surveys in New Hampshire and Vermont. |
